Best Keto Dark Chocolate bars

Lily’s Chocolate Salted Almond Dark Chocolate

Lily’s chocolate is my favorite dark chocolate to eat on the ketogenic diet. It’s rich, has deep tones, and taste cream. If you “accidentally” eat the entire bar, fear not, most bars contain a total of 8g of carbs.

They only use stevia extract to sweetened their chocolate which makes it a perfect keto-approved chocolate.

Lily’s also donates a portion of profits to grassroots nonprofits that support childhood cancer survivors and fighters.  Eat chocolate and save lives.

Lily’s 70% Extra Dark Salted Almond bar has the salty crunch of dry roasted almonds combined with stevia-sweetened premium 70% dark chocolate.

The other 70%  or higher Dark Chocolate Options Include:

  • Extra Dark
  • Sea Salt
  • Blood Orange

Synchro Keto Manna Chocolate

Keto Manna Ketogenic Chocolate Wonderfood Made with MCT Box with Chocolate Bar

Keto manna is a tasty, no sugar, no carbs, vegan. It contains MCT Oil and only  1 gram of sugar per serving.

I put it to the ultimate test while on a 5-day hiking adventure and it was the perfect snack. It also is single serve, so it’s easy to carry and does not add much weight.  You can eat it in a solid state (put it in a cold location or fridge), or warm it up with your hands for an easy liquid treat.

They claim that it’s “rich chocolate fudge that you feel like you’re cheating”. It has 12g of MCTS per serving, with around 20g of healthy fats per serving. It’s also not going to kick you out of ketosis.

It’s sweetened with monk fruit, which is completely plant based. It’s absolutely wonderful to keep in your purse or backpack for a quick snack to prevent accidental “cheating”.

Lindt 90% Dark  Keto Chocolate

Lindt 90% Fully Body Supreme Dark Chocolate Bar

Lindt 90% Chocolate is intense. This chocolate is not for the faint in heart, and is very bitter.

However, when on keto you will find your taste buds changing, and you may come to prefer the bitterness of 90% of chocolate to the creamy sugary version of milk chocolate.

When you do come around, lindt is here for you. Lindt is one of the oldest chocolatiers. Starting in 1945 they are nearly 180 years old!

Lindt Chocolate taste great paired with red wine. Red wine  truly brings out the taste in chocolate and vice versa.

From a low-carb perspective, lindt chocolate is a little higher in carbs. Don’t let this deter you from checking them out for several reasons.

The first reason there are no artificial sweeteners. If you are not sure about artificial sweeteners this may be the best chocolate for you. The second reason is you probably will NOT eat the entire  bar. It’s very rich and bitter and one or two pieces will satisfy your chocolate craving. I find with brands sweetened with artificial sweeteners, I eat way too much and sometimes it activates my old habits of binge eating of sugary-type foods.

Taza Wicked Dark Stone Ground Chocolate Bar

Taza Wicked Chocolate has some of the most unique flavors that I have experienced. The darker varieties are a bit fruity, nutty, with a bit of acidic taste. This makes for a symphony in your mouth!

It’s not too thick or cloying.

The 85% super dark is the lowest in carb, but they also have 70% dark chocolate varieties. You can find Taza in the specialty aisle of your local grocery store. The chocolate is inspired by mexican chocolate traditions and you can make it into a hot or iced chocolate beverage.

The taste of the chocolate is saturated, so I would suggest starting out with a less bold flavor if you are not used to dark chocolate.

Below is a great Puerto Rican Dark Chocolate Recipe. I changed the 6 oz of milk to almond milk to make the recipe lower in carbs. Use 85% dark to get the lowest in carbs. Be warned, the flavor will be INTENSE.  The calories will also be high, so do not make this an everyday treat…

  1. Break a disc into pieces into a mug
  2. Add a little bit of water to cover the pieces
  3. Microwave on high for 45 seconds
  4. Stir until completely mixed
  5. Add 6 oz almond milk ( or regular milk depending on your weight loss goals)
  6. Microwave for ca. 45 seconds on high
  7. Whisk with a small metal whisk for extra frothiness (or stir with spoon).

Endangered Species Strong and Velvety 88% Dark Chocolate

88% Endagered Species Chocolate Strong Velvety Dark Chocolate

Endangered Specie Chocolate is phenomenal. I know I have said that about almost every chocolate on here, but it’s truly amazing.

The flavor notes are intensely full-bodied, bitter, and of strong “earthy” taste and a hint of vanilla and smoke. Their is a  strong earthy flavor is similar to many fine dark chocolates made with Jamaican beans.

A fact about the Endangered Species chocolate brand is  part of the expense is donated to help protect wildlife! The inside wrapper contains information about the jaguar. This is awesome for creating awareness to further protect the planet.

It’s also a great keto chocolate for a low-carb diet.  A serving of chocolate comes in at 7 grams per 1 oz.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Intense Dark Bar, Midnight 86%

86 % Chocolate is not for the faint of heart. Do not buy this if you are looking for candy. After a few weeks or months, “regular candy” chocolate will almost be sickeningly sweet. This is especially true after you have become fat-adapted on the ketogenic diet.
